Empower Counseling created the Open Empowerment Counseling Program to provide quality, accessible counseling to meet the needs of clients seeking mental health services that are uninsured and low income.
There is no charge or insurance required for the service.
Open Empowerment Counseling services will be provided by a skilled Masters Level Graduate Student for the duration of their internship.
A native of both New York City and Fargo, Amanda is known for having a heart of gold, contagious smile, and a humble presence. Others often describe Amanda as the "disciplined" one, the "helper", the "organized" one, or the "responsible" one. Amanda decided to combine her desire to be of service to others, with her desire to understand the human psyche, and became a Licensed Social Worker in North Dakota and Minnesota. She is currently completing her Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Multicultural Clinical Practice. She recently joined Empower Counseling LLC as a Clinical Intern.
Amanda is passionate about taking the time to truly understand each of her client's lived experiences, how that has shaped who they are today, nurturing a safe space where each client actively feels understood, and providing practical skills and tools for empowerment. Her therapeutic style is rooted in cultural humility, empathy, and authenticity, and she brings warmth, integrity, and compassion into every client relationship. Amanda also deeply values the importance of representation in mental health care and is driven by social justice. Amanda is drawn to evidence-based treatments such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Outside of client sessions, Amanda loves staying on the move — whether that’s dancing, traveling, or trying out new restaurants. You'll usually find Amanda laughing with friends, lost in a DIY project, or planning her next adventure. Her dog, Nahla, keeps her grounded and reminds her daily to slow down and find joy in the little things.
