Empower Counseling created the Open Empowerment Counseling Program to provide quality, accessible counseling to meet the needs of clients seeking mental health services that are uninsured and low income.
There is no charge or insurance required for the service.
Open Empowerment Counseling services will be provided by a skilled Masters Level Graduate Student for the duration of their internship.
Teni is a graduate student at Minnesota State University, Moorhead and is completing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Social Sciences and Special Education from Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
Teni has vast experience working with adults and children with disabilities, as well as experience working as a special education teacher for children ages 5-10. She is passionate about working with children, families and adults.
Teni’s goal is to create a warm and comforting environment for clients. She uses humor, empathy and collaboration in order to build connections with others.
In her free time, Teni enjoys spending time with her fiancé, friends and family. She also has a 4-year-old cat named Arlo who loves to go on walks in his stroller. Some of her favorite things to do are traveling, cooking, being near water and listening to true crime podcasts.
Nicole is a graduate student at the University of Mary and is currently completing a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead in Health and Medical Sciences. She has experience working with college students, individuals at risk of experiencing homelessness, and the geriatric population. Nicole is passionate about hearing individuals' stories and working collaboratively with clients through a strengths-based approach. Her goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment with a treatment style that is non-judgmental and collaborative.
In her free time, Nicole enjoys listening to podcasts, kayaking, traveling, and gardening. Nicole is married and the proud owner of many house plants
Krystol is a graduate student at the University of North Dakota where she is working to complete a Master's degree in Social Work. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Mayville University in 2018.
Krystol has experience working with adolescents and young adults in addition to the geriatric population. She is committed to helping teens and adults learn how to build healthier relationships with themselves and others as they navigate through life's changes. She does this by focusing on client strengths, coping skills, exploring family systems, increasing self-esteem, and breaking out of unhealthy patterns through a collaborative approach.
When Krystol isnt working she enjoys spending time with her family, walking her Great Dane, watching murder mysteries, and trying new hobbies
